New Bedford To Honor Legacy Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Remembrance is scheduled for Sunday at 3pm at the Pilgrim United Church on Purchase street.  Its a celebration of Dr. King's civil rights legacy.  Marci Pina Christian of New Bedford is organizing the event.....

The two hour program will feature student performances and essays, and remarks by keynote speaker Victoria Reggie Kennedy, the wife of the late Senator Edward Kennedy.   Also, classical baritone and New Bedford native Philip Lima will be joined by pianist William Merrill to perform an excerpt of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
