New Bedford Police Investigating After Man Shot in City’s South End
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police are investigating a shooting that occurred this evening in the city’s South End.
According to police, patrol units responded at about 5:15 p.m. to the area of Bolton Street and Rivet Street regarding an adult male gunshot victim.
“The male was transported to the hospital for treatment,” Assistant Deputy Police Chief Scott Carola said. “We've since received word that he is in stable condition.”
The gunshot victim’s identity was not released.
New Bedford Police detectives remained on the scene Sunday night investigating the incident.
The area of Rivet Street and Bolton Street is on the opposite of Ashley Park from where New Bedford Police Detective Lavar Gilbert was struck in the face by a stray bullet while investigating gang activity back in July.
Cheybane Vasconcelos-Furtado, 20, of New Bedford was later arrested in connection with that incident.
