New Bedford Firefighters Battle Two South End Structure Fires
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — Firefighters in New Bedford battled two structure fires this week over a span of two hours.
According to the New Bedford Fire department, South End fire companies responded to the fires on Monday evening, July 1.
The first structure fire happened at 22 County Street around 7:12 p.m., where fire crews quickly extinguished a fire involving a couch.
The second structure fire, which occurred at 11:15 p.m. at 31 Margin Street, reportedly involved a propane cylinder. Firefighters said it was close to the rear of the two-story single-family home.
According to the department, a neighbor alerted the residents, who were able to evacuate safely.
The fire did not spread inside the home, and only a neighbor’s shed sustained slight heat damage.
Both fires reported no injuries, and the NBFD Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the causes.
