NEW BEDFORD—The New Bedford Regional Airport has announced that longtime airline Cape Air has added to its Summer/Fall schedule, which began June 21 and will run through October 15.

The airport will have five daily departures to the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. On Fridays, there will be one extra departure, making that six departures every Friday. According to a release from the City of New Bedford, "due to the growing demand for commercial air travel within our region, the 36 weekly departures are a welcome addition."

The islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket are also hosts to seasonal connections with both JetBlue Airways and United Airlines. Cape Air has served the New Bedford Regional Airport for nearly three decades, and the release says the airport is proud to maintain its efforts towards commercial service expansion.
