New Bedford Receives EDA Planning Grant For Waterfront

The U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration delivers a $200,000 planning grant to the New Bedford Economic Development Council.

The announcement was made Wednesday at the Ferry Terminal on the State Pier.

Undersecretary Matt Erskine says the planning grant will focus on the waterfront.....

Mayor Jon Mitchell says the city will match the E-D-A's grant with cash and in-kind services.

Mitchell told reporters, he wants to keep everything that's being done now on the waterfront, but he wants to see more of it.
