New Bedford Police Bringing ‘Ice Cream Socials’ to Neighborhoods This Week
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — The New Bedford Police Department is once again bringing back its popular “Ice Cream Socials” this week, visiting some of the housing developments and neighborhoods across the city to provide kids with a free ice cream.
The timing couldn’t be any more perfect, as temperatures are expected to soar in the next couple of days with a heat index of 100 degrees or more.
“From Harrington Park to Hazelwood, we’re making stops in neighborhoods all over New Bedford between June 23-27,” the NBPD posted to its Facebook page. “This is a great opportunity to meet your local officers, connect with our team, and enjoy some summertime fun together!”

Police will be handing out one free ice cream per child.
If you would like to come out and meet the officers (and get a free ice cream), here is the complete schedule of the NBPD’s Ice Cream Socials.
