New Bedford Police Host ‘Ice Cream Socials’ Throughout the City
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) —As the hotter days continue, cooling down is now more of a priority than ever.
The New Bedford Police Department, however, has cracked the code to help make the days a little cooler and sweeter by hosting ice cream socials throughout the city.
Officers have loaded an ice cream truck and are visiting different locations to give free ice cream to kids.
The department first launched the event on Monday, June 24 and served over 500 kids.
Due to its success, the department will give residents two more opportunities to cool down with an array of ice cream flavors and toppings. This way, you can plan your day and not miss out.
Where Will the Ice Cream Social Be?
On June 26, officers will be at Westlawn from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will make their way to Temple Landing from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the ice cream truck will then be at Monte's Park.
On June 27, the ice cream truck will again visit three different locations in another part of the city.
You can grab free ice cream from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Blue Meadows.
Afterward, they will appear at South First Street from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
They will then wrap things up at the New Bedford Police Station on Brock Avenue from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Nothing can compare to the excitement of hearing the catchy jingle and chasing down the ice cream truck as it drives through your neighborhood.
