NEW BEDFORD- Two men with prior drug convictions were arrested Saturday night as New Bedford Police Narcotics Detectives executed two search warrants.

According to a press release from the New Bedfrod Police Department, first arrested was 53 year old Thomas Barbosa of 228 State Street in New Bedford. Police executed their warrant to search Barbosa's home just before 10:00 AM and seized a small amount of cocaine, cash, packaging materials, and scales. Upon arrest he was charged with possession with intent to distribute class B cocaine and possession with intent to distribute class B subsequent offense.

The subsequent possession charge stems from Barbosa's prior conviction of the same crime from 1991.

Jamone Lloyd was arrested at 12:30 PM on the same day, following the search of his apartment on 949 County Street. Police seized a small amount of heroin, cocaine, cash, packaging materials, and scales from the residence. Before executing the warrant, ;police observed operating a vehicle despite having a suspended license. Lloyd was charged with possession with intent to distribute class A heroin, possession with intent to distribute class B cocaine, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession with intent to distribute class A subsequent offense, and possession with intent to distribute class B subsequent offense.

Lloyd is receiving two subsequent possession charges as he was convicted of possession on two charges from 1995.
