New Bedford Police Arrest Three, Take Cocaine, Knife Off Streets
NEW BEDFORD — The New Bedford Police narcotics unit arrested three men and took cocaine and a knife off the streets Wednesday, as part of an investigation into street-level narcotics sales in the city's North End.
In the course of the investigation, police observed a narcotics transaction in the area of Stop and Save Gas, located at 129 Ashley Boulevard.
Arrested were:
Diego E. Perez-Martinez, 30, of 283 Sawyer St. Apt. 3D, New Bedford, on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, subsequent offense, and conspiracy to violate drug laws. He was convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute May 17, 2007 in federal court.
James Pimental Macomber, 50, of 251 Green St., Fairhaven, on charges of possession of cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Edwin Jorge, 27, of 164 Holly St. Apt. 3, New Bedford, on charges of carrying a weapon (knife).
The arrests were made at about 1:25 p.m.
