New Bedford Mom Left Disabled Child to Get High, Police Say
QUINCY - A New Bedford mother pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Quincy District Court to multiple charges after police say she left her 1-year-old son, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, with his grandparents while she was out getting high.
The Patriot Ledger reports that Faith Tibets, 33, is accused by police of leaving the child Tuesday afternoon with his paternal grandparents in Quincy, disappearing for seven hours, and not returning calls or texts from the grandparents.
When she returned home Tuesday night, police were at her house and said she appeared to be high. They searched her and found 12 Clonazepam pills, three Suboxone strips, and a bottle of Adderall.
She was placed under arrest.
She was released without bail on the condition she have no contact with her son and cannot use drugs or alcohol. She is due back in court October 12.
