Two New Bedford men have been charged in connection with last Friday night’s fatal shooting outside the Richdale Food Shops location on Brock Avenue in the city’s South End.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Christopher Boyer, 19, and Anthony Rosario, 20, were both located this weekend in Brockton at the Super 8 Motel and were transported back to New Bedford for police questioning in relation to the homicide of Joseph Pauline, 32, of New Bedford.

Boyer was charged in New Bedford District Court on Monday with accessory to murder after the fact and was held on $1,000 cash bail. The D.A.’s Office said Assistant District Attorney Matthew Lopes had requested $25,000 cash bail be set for the defendant. Boyer is due back in court June 11.

Rosario was charged in New Bedford District Court with assault and battery to collect a loan in connection to the ongoing homicide investigation. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for May 24 at 2 p.m.

On Friday, May 14 at about 6:45 p.m., New Bedford Police responded to 911 calls reporting shots fired outside the Richdale Food Shops location on Brock Avenue. First responders arrived to find a male victim in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Pauline, was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:44 p.m.

The D.A.’s Office said that because of the ongoing nature of the investigation, no other information about the case can be shared publicly at this time.
