New Bedford Shooting Victim Identified

UPDATE: The Bristol County District Attorney's Office has identified the shooting victim as 32-year old Joseph Pauline of New Bedford.  He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.  State Police have joined New Bedford Police in the investigation, which they say is active and ongoing.

NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the city's South End Friday evening.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., police responded to the Richdale Foods store on Brock Avenue in regards to a shooting. There, they located a gunshot victim that was transported to the hospital, where police say he died from his wound.

New Bedford Police are on the scene and the investigation is ongoing at this time. Police ask that the public avoid the area.
