New Bedford Mayor Creates Offshore Wind Advisory Committee

Mayor Jon Mitchell has assembled a committee aimed at smoothing and streamlining the process going forward with the South End Maritime Commerce Terminal and Cape Wind, LLC.

The Offshore Wind Advisory Committee consists of ten members, each one tied to either alternative energy or manufacturing fields.

Jeff Grybowski, CEO of Deepwater Wind and now part of the advisory committee, says New Bedford is perfectly staged for offshore wind development, and he's eager to see it come to fruition.

Mayor Mitchell says the committee will likely meet on a quarterly basis, throughout the entire construction of the terminal, and as Cape Wind and other companies take up residence while staging offshore wind turbines.
