New Bedford 18-Year-Old Arrested For Drugs, Guns in Raid
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — A New Bedford 18-year-old was arrested and drugs and firearms seized following a drug raid at a North End residence this past weekend.
New Bedford Police said that on September 28, detectives executed a search warrant at 305 Earle Street, with the target of the investigation being Matthew O’Brien.
According to police, detectives seized a plastic bag of crack cocaine weighing 28.5 grams, 17 tabs of oxycodone, 12 partial tabs of Adderall, and a plastic zip bag of marijuana weighing 63.1 grams.
They said two digital scales, packaging materials, and $4,134 in cash were also seized.
Police also recovered two firearms: a Glock 48 9mm, and a Sig Sauer P365 with a defaced serial number and ammunition. O’Brien is not licensed to possess firearms, they said.
He was arrested and charged with trafficking in crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was also charged with possession of a large-capacity firearm for use of a felony with the serial number defaced and possession of ammunition.
O’Brien had already been placed on probation in May of this year with a two-year suspended sentence.
