MARION (WBSM) — A New Bedford man who had been contracted to work in the kitchen at Tabor Academy in Marion was arrested today for allegedly exposed himself to two students.

According to Marion Police Chief Richard Nighelli, Joao A. Andrade, 38, was arrested and charged with two counts of open and gross lewdness.

Police received a call at 11:58 a.m. today after two students reported that a kitchen worker, later identified as Andrade, had allegedly exposed himself to them while they were in the schools kitchen/dining hall area.

Andrade is employed by Tabor’s contracted food service provider, Nighelli said. He was arrested following the investigation into the incident.

He is expected to be arraigned on Thursday, April 17.

"We appreciate Tabor Academy's prompt reporting and cooperation following this incident," Chief Nighelli said "I would like to thank the Marion Police officers who used their extensive training and expertise to investigate quickly and bring this case to conclusion. I'd also like to thank the New Bedford and Mattapoisett Police departments for providing translation assistance, aiding us in the investigation."
