NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — For the second time in three days, New Bedford Police arrested a person on a warrant while also seizing drugs and a gun.

According to police, Detective Jordan DaSilva, who is assigned to the U.S. Marshal Task Force, was working with Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section on December 17.

The officers acted on information that Marc Anthony Suarez, 29, who had an active warrant out of Bristol County Superior Court for gun-related charges, was staying at 643 County Street, Apartment 3N.

“A perimeter was established around the residence as officers attempted to locate Suarez,” police said in a release. “While doing so, objects wrapped in a white cloth were observed to be thrown out of his apartment window.”

Officers entered the apartment and found Suarez alone. He was taken into custody.

“Upon further investigation, it was learned that Suarez had thrown fentanyl, ‘crack’ cocaine, and a loaded Glock 19 handgun out of the window along with 14 rounds of ammunition,” police said. “A further search of the apartment yielded additional amounts of narcotics, packaging materials, a digital scale, and $1690 in cash, which was seized.”

Police said in total, over 140 grams of cocaine and over 39 grams of fentanyl were found.

Suarez was previously convicted of firearm possession in 2022 and possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance in 2019.

Suarez now faces new charges including possession of a large-capacity firearm and ammunition without a license, trafficking over 100 grams of cocaine, and trafficking over 36 grams of fentanyl.

On December 14, New Bedford Police arrested repeat offender Jesse Soares, 41, of New Bedford on a warrant and found him allegedly in possession of a pistol, 660 grams of cocaine and 88 grams of fentanyl.
