New Bedford Man Arrested on Warrant and Drug Charges

NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police gang unit were on patrol in the north end observed a vehicle with a motor vehicle violation in the area of Church Street and Nash Road.

Upon further investigation, detectives determined that an occupant of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant and was in possession of 21 tablets.

Detectives arrested Nelson DeJesus-Hernandez, 41, of Pleasant Street, New Bedford, and charged him on a warrant arrest and with possession of class E substance.

The arrest was made at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday.
