A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with last month's double shooting in New Bedford that left two men injured.

Miguel Santiago, of 79 Arlington St., Apt. 2, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery by discharge of a firearm and discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

In a press release, New Bedford Police spokeswoman Melissa Batchilder said detectives recovered a Smith & Wesson 9 millimeter handgun, two magazines, and 45 rounds of ammunition from Santiago's home.

The shooting took place in the area of the Temple Landing housing complex, the release states. Police previously stated the shooting occurred on Aug. 24 at 11:50 p.m. in the area of Elm and Ash streets.
