NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man faces charges after he was seen walking around vehicles early Monday morning.

Police received a call early Monday with a resident reporting a suspicious male wearing dark clothing and blue gloves who was walking around cars in the 300-block of Cedar Street.

The suspect was soon spotted inside a vehicle by an off-duty detective. He was again seen inside another car by a responding patrol officer.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect, Jason Leite, 35, of 59 Richmond Street, New Bedford, was in possession of personal items belonging to other individuals.

Leite was arrested and faces three charges of breaking and entering into a vehicle in the nighttime for a felony.
