NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — Two men were arrested and guns and drugs seized following an investigation by New Bedford Police into a fentanyl distribution operation in the city’s North End.

According to police, detectives concluded the investigation into the operation allegedly running out 192 Belleville Road, Apt. 1E and executed a search warrant targeting Alexander Sears, 39, and Jose Lacen, 25.

A search of the residence turned up 141.6 grams of cocaine, 4.9 grams of fentanyl, a Masterpiece Arms 9mm pistol loaded with 18 rounds of ammunition, and a Taurus 9mm pistol loaded with eight rounds. Also seized were a digital scale, a calibration weight, narcotics packaging and $1,701 in cash.

Police said Lacen was charged with trafficking 100 grams or more of cocaine, unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Sears was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug.
