New Bedford Police Arrest Wanted Man With Gun, Crack
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police arrested a city man recently on a warrant and discovered he was allegedly in possession of a gun and crack cocaine.
According to New Bedford Police, Detectives Matthew Couture and Jonathan Miranda were operating in the city’s North End on June 12 when they observed a vehicle driven by Jonathan Martinez, 40, of New Bedford.
The detectives knew Martinez had a warrant out for his arrest.
The detectives stopped the vehicle and Martinez was taken into custody. Police said further investigation revealed a loaded 9mm firearm in the vehicle’s center console, for which Martinez did not possess a license, as well as a baggie of crack cocaine in his pocket.
Martinez now faces additional charges of carrying a loaded firearm and possession of crack cocaine in addition to charges on the original warrant.
