Another update from Mayor Jon Mitchell on the city's casino prospects.

In a written statement, the Mayor says the city advanced its efforts on casino gambling with the vote this week by the state Gaming Commission, delaying applications from private developers for a Southeastern Mass. casino license. The deadline has been moved from July to at least September 22nd.

The Mayor says he's also asked the Commission to change criteria that will give developers more flexibility in designing a casino for New Bedford.

The mayor adds. he continues to have productive discussions with K-G Urban Enterprises and other developers and operators interested in New Bedford. .
