New Bedford Hosts A Celebration Of Portuguese Culture

The Day of Portugal celebration in New Bedford is this weekend. Festivities begin Thursday with a 6pm flag raising ceremony on the steps of City Hall.

The festival then moves to Acushnet Avenue on Friday through Sunday, between Sawyer and Deane Streets.

Maria Costa is part of the Day of Portugal committee, and says there's lots to enjoy.....

The festival also features carnival rides, Portuguese artisians and other vendors. On Sunday morning, there are road races for young people and adults, starting at 8am.
