Convicted hit-and-run driver Arthur Larrivee of New Bedford has learned his fate, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced.

Larrivee was charged in the 2012 hit-and-run death of 76-year-old Rafael Velasquez while he was crossing Rockdale Avenue.

Police said at the time of the hit-and-run that the driver had stopped, but only to move Velasquez to the sidewalk.

Larrivee was convicted last Thursday and was sentenced to serve 4-5 years in state prison followed by a four-year probation period in which he must serve 200 hours of community service and may not operate a motor vehcile.
