There's some good news for New Bedford in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's annual report on Fisheries of The United States.

The nation's fishermen landed more than $5 billion worth of fish in 2014, and the Port of New Bedford again is the top port in the United States, when it comes to the dollar-value of fish landed.

"New Bedford again, for the 15th consecutive year has the highest value catch, 140 million pounds that was valued at $328 million. Most of that was due to the Atlantic sea-scallop fishery", according to NOAA's Chief Scientist Dr. Richard Merrick.

Dr. Merrick says the port of Dutch-Harbor, Alaska landed the most fish, nearly 762 million pounds.
