New Bedford Graffiti Art Shrinks Down to Poster Size in New Book
Photographer: Dena Haden
New Bedford artists have some familiar work showcased in a poster-sized collection so anyone can enjoy them from anywhere.
Many artists strive for opportunities to display their art for the world to see. If you are a writer, you hope your writing gets published. If you're an actor or dancer, you hope to be able to perform on big stages in big cities. If you are an artist, you hope to maybe hang your art in a gallery.
"We couldn’t be more thrilled to see artistry from our community acknowledged in this way,” Superflate NB co-founder Jeremiah Hernandez said. “The book is bringing the power of art to a much wider audience and underscores the impact it has had and is having on the world.”
Fellow founding member Dena Haden said: “Our intention at Superflat NB was to break down barriers to experiencing art by facilitating the creation of murals and street art within the neighborhoods of New Bedford, making it much more accessible. Now, everyone will get a chance to experience it and hopefully be inspired to create their own art as well.
On The Wall Posters: Street Art is a book of 30 graffiti-inspired wall posters to "tear out and hang up," the work promises. It's available at Footprints Bookshop in Kilburn Mill on Rodney French Boulevard in New Bedford or online.
