The New Bedford Fairhaven bridge will be closed to motor vehicle traffic for a two week period beginning March 30th.

The Department of Transportation says during that time, structural steel repairs will be made to the bridge's floor beams.

D-O-T says contractors will work around the clock to get the work done as quickly as possible.  Just like everyone else, Mayor Jon Mitchell isn't pleased with the shut-down...

Mitchell says a new bridge would allow for larger freighters to dock in the North Terminal area, providing an economic development opportunity for the city.  The bridge closure will run from March 30th at 6am to April 12th at 6pm.
