The lost-and-found collection at most New Bedford-area restaurants and bars is bound to be full of interesting items, but The Dipper Cafe recently found something left behind that they weren’t about to pick up and put into a box.

We swear this is the tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth.

This morning, the popular spot for South Shore-style bar pizza found some false teeth left on the ground outside and posted them to The Dipper Facebook page with the caption “PSA: If you lost your teeth, they’re in the alley on the side of the bar!”

We’ve heard of burning the roof of your mouth on a hot pizza, but we’ve never heard about leaving the roof of your mouth outside the pizza place. Although to be fair, these look like a bottom plate.

“My father found them this morning when he came in to get the bar set up,” Dipper co-owner Josh Gagne told us. “I got the call when he did.”

Pizza connoisseur Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports fame recently stopped by The Dipper for one of his “One Bite Pizza Reviews,” although we doubt they’re Dave’s dentures.

He’s done a number of other pizza reviews since stopping by The Dipper and would’ve needed them to chomp down on a slice by now.

If you’re the person who left your teeth behind, Gagne said they’re still outside – at least they were as of this writing. You never know, some dental-deprived squirrel might come along and start using them to crack some nuts.

Of course, The Dipper’s followers had a field day in the comments section. Most of them we can’t reprint here. Some people can be absolutely toothless – er, ruthless.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
