DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — Dartmouth Police have released the name of the New Bedford man killed in after being struck by a vehicle on Route 6 earlier this month.

According to a release, Dartmouth Police responded to a report of an incident of a person in the roadway near the Moby Dick Motel at 617 State Road on Sunday, September 1 at 4:26 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found that Clifford Kerns, 49, of New Bedford had been struck by a car.

Kerns was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died in the hospital the following day.

No charges have been filed at this time but the incident remains under investigation by Dartmouth Police, Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
