New Bedford Converted Horse Trailers Cater Cookouts and Ice Cream Parties

When New Bedford's Sarah Simmons decided it was time to give up riding, she came up with a clever idea for what to do with her horse trailer. She converted the thing into a traveling ice cream bar, and it's available for private parties, graduations, weddings, or just about any reason you could think of to have an ice cream party.

Simmons has owned the Little Phoenix Restaurant at 4128 Acushnet Avenue in the Far North End for about 25 years and knows a bit about business and how to serve up good food.

The 12-foot-long lighted horse trailer, which Simmons played a big part in converting, is equipped with coolers, freezers, a snow cone maker, and lots of other fun stuff to make an ice cream party a blast.

Simmons rents out the trailer as a prop, or she and her staff will cater for any size party anywhere.

Simmons also owns a 14-foot-long horse trailer with a gas hookup that is equipped with a grill for cooking burgers, fryolators for French fries and fried seafood, and a hot dog steamer, among other fun things for the total cookout experience. This trailer will also be available to rent as a prop or will facilitate a catered cookout anywhere.

Simmons is excited about her new venture and will bring her trailers to some area festivals this summer.
