The New Bedford Health Department has announced that all beaches have been reopened for swimming.

Sections of East Beach, located on East Rodney French Boulevard, and West Beach, located on West Rodney French Boulevard were shut down Thursday due to elevated bacteria counts.

However, officials say testing was conducted and has revealed that water quality is at levels safe enough to allow swimming.

Health officials say they will continue to monitor water quality at all of New Bedford’s municipal beaches.
