NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police arrested a city man on drug and gun charges this past weekend.

Search Warrant Executed on State Street

New Bedford Police said that on Saturday, December 13, officers were conducting an investigation at 102 State Street, Apartment 3, when they located a safe belonging to Aurold Januario, 32.

Gun and Ammunition Found Inside Safe

Patrol Sergeant Roberto Dacunha applied for a search warrant for the safe. Inside, police found a Taurus PT-22 handgun, and Januario was also allegedly found in possession of 11 rounds of ammunition. Police said he does not possess a firearms license.

Multiple Narcotics Discovered

Also in the safe, police said they found crack cocaine, oxycodone and amphetamine, as well as other yet-to-be-determined narcotics.

Officer Christopher Cotter took Januario into custody.
