New Bedford’s Amaral’s Linguica Wins City Youth Baseball Championship
Amaral's did it again.
Fresh off their Whaling City Youth Baseball League title, Amaral’s Linguica went on to dominate the City of New Bedford Youth Baseball Championship, closing the season with an impressive 10–0 victory over Tropical Smoothie Cafe of the South End Youth Athletic Association at Clegg Field.
With Thursday evening’s win, the Amaral’s squad ensured that the City Championship trophy will remain at Whaling City Youth Baseball for another year.
A Fitting End to a Milestone Year
The victory comes during the Whaling City Youth Baseball League’s milestone 75th season. Founded in 1948, the league has provided generations of New Bedford and SouthCoast kids the chance to learn the game, grow in character, and create lasting memories.

In a message to the community on Facebook, league organizers expressed their gratitude:
“As the curtain closes on our seventy-fifth season we want to thank each and every parent, player, fan, alumni, umpire and supporter who contributed to making this season the great success that it has been! It is quite an accomplishment when a youth baseball organization can say it has been in existence for 75 years, and we are SO PROUD of that very fact. The best is yet to come.”
Championship Tradition Continues
This latest championship adds to the growing legacy of Amaral’s Linguica, a team long associated with Whaling City Baseball and the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.
For now, the 2025 champions get to savor their victory, and New Bedford celebrates another season of baseball history.
Well done, Amarals.
