The President of the New Bedford Educators Association is asking his members to withdraw their support from the United Way of Greater New Bedford and other businesses and organizations that signed a newspaper ad in support of Supt. Pia Durkin.  Lou St. John wants to make it clear, the boycott goes beyond the United Way....

St. John says Supt. Durkin has created a climate of fear in the school system, and wants to replace 200 teachers at the high school.  United Way President Michelle Hantman tells WBSM News, she was not aware of the superintendent's "turnaround" plan for the high school, when she signed the ad....

Hantman says her agency has received dozens of calls of support since news of the union boycott was made public.  And she says new doners have called in to contribute to the United Way.
