Narcs See Suspected Drug Deal in New Bedford KFC Lot
NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police narcotics unit were on patrol targeting street-level narcotics offenses in the west end when they observed a male acting suspiciously in a vehicle in the parking lot at Kentucky Fried Chicken, 506 County St.
A second vehicle then drove up next to the vehicle and the two cars drove off, eventually ending up on Cedar Street, where a brief interaction took place between the drivers.
Police subsequently stopped the vehicles. Fentanyl was found in one vehicle and a digital scale and $185 in cash was located in the other.
Ashley Goncalves, 29, of 42 Irvington St., New Bedford, was charged with distribution of class A substance and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Kyle M. Tremblay, 46, of 3 Snuggles Way, East Freetown, was charged with possession of class A substance and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
The arrest was made in the vicinity of 823 Rockdale Ave. at about 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 1.
