Murder Suspect Held Without Bail

Murder suspect Michael Sousa is being held without bail for the August 2nd shooting of 25 year old Jeffrey Sylvia Jr. of New Bedford.

Sousa appeared Tuesday in New Bedford District Court and was arraigned  on charges of murder, armed robbery, and firearms violations.  Not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf.  His case was continued to October 9th.

Sousa is the second defendant charged in the killing.  Seventeen year old Darian Cardoza was arrested several days after the shooting.

Sylvia's body was found in the early morning hours of August 2nd at Acushnet Avenue and Blackmer Street.  Prosecutors have said previously that Sousa was the shooter,
