Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus have turned up in New Bedford's South End, so officials plan to spray the entire peninsula early Friday morning.

Steve Burns is the interim Supt. of the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project.

The ground-spraying will occur in an area from Cove St. to Fort Rodman. Residents are advised to stay indoors, close their windows and bring pets inside. Earlier this month, the Mass. Dept. of Public Health raised the Triple E and West Nile risk level to "high" in New Bedford.
