Plans to dump truckloads of contamination soil from the Boston area into a privately-owned landfill in North Dartmouth is raising lots of concern in the town.

The plan, orchestrated by the state D-E-P, calls for 300 truckloads a week, over a three year period, to be dumped at the Robinson-Smith landfill off Old Fall River Road.

State Senator Mark Montigny has followed the issue, and is disturbed by how unresponsive the state agency has been.....

Montigny says he and State Rep. Chris Markey will attempt to sit down with the D-E-P and work out some sort of mitigation for the town, or downsize the project.

Montigny says because of the agency's regulatory authority, halting the project altogether is a very long shot.

The D-E-P is holding a hearing on the project, Thursday at 630pm at the Dartmouth Town Hall.
