The annual Martin Luther King Remembrance celebration was held Sunday afternoon at the Grace Episcopal Church in New Bedford. Among the many speakers was the Chairman of the Massachusetts Commission Against Disgrimination Julian Tynes. Tynes spoke about this year's theme of "passing the torch" and the importance of getting young people involved and the importance of education for young children to succeed. The ceremony also included a presentation of the Living History Award to local civil rights activist Jibreel Khazan. Khazan was one of the "Greensboro Four" that initiated a sit-in at a Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1960.
