Mitchell: School Committee Hopes To Increase School Budget

Mayor Jon Mitchell says the School Committee hopes to increase next year's school budget in New Bedford.

Speaking on his weekly radio program on WBSM,  the Mayor said the School Department needs to find additional dollars to meet some critical needs at the High School.....

Mitchell says he hopes state lawmakers will increase Chapter 70 education money during their  debate on the State budget.  He says the city will also apply for grants related to the turnaround plan at New Bedford High School.

The School Committee held its first budget workshop Wednesday night at Keith Middle School.
