Mitchell Named Chairman Of Mayor’s Energy Committee

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell has been named Chairman of the U-S Conference of Mayors Committee on Energy.

The appointment was announced by the President of the Mayor's group, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake of Baltimore.

Mitchell will chair the committee next week during the 84th winter meeting of the U-S Conference of Mayors in Washington.

In a statement, Mitchell says he looks forward to advancing the conference's renewable energy agenda.

Conference of Mayors CEO Tom Cochran says "Mayor Mitchell brings a wealth of experience to the policy discussion on energy efficiency."

The U-S Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more.
