Mattapoisett Woman Sentenced for Wire Fraud

A Mattapoisett woman was sentenced to a year in in Federal Prison for stealing nearly $320,000 from two Middleboro companies over a six year period.

43 year old Marie Greany appeared in U-S District Court on Wednesday. In addition to the year in jail, she also received three years supervised probation, and was ordered to continue paying restitution to both firms.

Greany pleaded guilty in March to wire fraud. She worked as a bookkeeper for two computer systems design companies in Middleboro.

According to the U-S Attorney's Office, Greany used company credit cards to make unauthorized purchases for personal items, like tuition payments and tickets to sporting events. She also transferred money from business bank accounts to pay her personal credit card bills.
