
Greater New Bedford Schools Get Grants for Advanced Career Training
The Healey Administration has awarded $24.2 million to "expand career technical training opportunities for 2,500 job seekers" across 23 Massachusetts school districts. Two schools receiving funds are in Bristol County, and one is in Plymouth County.
Grant Award for Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech
Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School will receive a $202,200 grant as part of the Career Technical Initiative (CTI) award program.
An administration press release says, "Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School will provide training to 20 participants for Advanced Manufacturing and Carpentry positions."
"They will partner with Dartmouth Building Supply, Brodeur Machine Co Inc., Hornet Millworks, Precision Window and Kitchen, AutoCam Medical, All Page Inc., and Primo Medical Group," according to the release.

Grant Awards for Old Colony
Old Colony Regional Professional Technical School in Rochester will receive $335,000 to "provide training to 40 participants for welding and Advanced Manufacturing positions."
Old Colony will partner with Allied Recycling Center Inc., Tasco, A&M Associates, Cape Cod Shipbuilding Co., Dockside Repairs Inc., AutoCam Medical, AccuRounds, and Teledyne.
Grant Awards for Attleboro Schools
The Attleboro School District will get $1,340,946 to "provide training to 168 recipients for Welding, HVAC, Plumbing, Auto Tech, Electrical, Medical Lab Tech, and Culinary Arts positions."
Attleboro schools will partner with 20 companies, including Southcoast Hospitals Group, Lockheed Architectural Solutions Inc., and SpeeDee Oil Change & Auto Service.
The administration says, "The CTI grant program partners with Career and Technical Education (CTE) Schools to provide adult learners, especially unemployed and underemployed individuals from underserved populations and underrepresented groups, with career training and technical skills to meet the needs of Massachusetts employers."
Governor Healey’s Statement on Career Training
"The CTI program opens doors for adult learners by providing the hands-on training they need to step into high-demand careers in construction, the trades, and manufacturing," Gov. Healey said in a statement.
