It should come as no great surprise to anyone that some of the Bay State's most notable elected officials would oppose the Trump Administration's crackdown on violent agitators in Los Angeles following ICE raids that saw several dozen criminal illegal immigrants taken into federal custody.

Trump federalized some 2,000 California National Guardsmen, deploying them to L.A. over the weekend to keep the peace and hundreds of U.S. Marines, to protect and defend federal property and federal personnel.

In a press statement, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey denounced the National Guard deployment, saying, "President Trump deployed California's National Guard without consulting with and over the objection of state and local officials, including the Governor."

"This only increases the threat to public safety in our communities," Healey said. "The Trump Administration should rescind this order immediately."

Sen. Ed Markey shared a video on Facebook in which he called Trump's deployment "straight out of the authoritarian playbook." Markey accused Trump of attempting to "escalate tensions, not keep the peace."

"Trump is trying to act like a king and a bully, and anyone who disagrees with them will be punished, but we will not stand for it," Markey said. "No one Democrat or Republican should be silent in the face of this administration's authoritarian actions."

State House News Service quoted Markey as saying, "If Trump sought to nationalize the National Guard here in Massachusetts, or to send in the Marines, I would fight Trump every single step of the way because it would be one further step towards an authoritarian dictatorship in our country."

Sen. Elizabeth Warren posted to X, "Donald Trump's deployment of the military in Los Angeles over the objection of California leaders is an abuse of power and a dangerous escalation."

"It's what you would see in authoritarian states, and it must stop," Warren posted. "Americans have the right to speak out and peacefully protest."

The reaction from the "big three" is predictable but comes with no explanation as to whether they support Trump removing criminal illegal immigrants from the country.
