Massachusetts has grabbed its share of negative press headlines in recent weeks. The national press, which is usually kind to the Commonwealth, has many politicians singing the blue state blues these days.

Warren's Missteps, Literally and Politically

The image of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren falling on her butt in the Senate Chamber is one we won't soon forget. The press made it go viral. Nor can we forget Warren's over-the-top excitement over the candidacy of New York City Democratic Socialist mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani.

Silly antics that would be hilarious if they weren't so depressing.

Governor Maura Healey and the Migrant Shelter Crisis

But the media sharpened its steely knives for serious by sharing damning articles from the Boston Herald and Boston Globe about Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, who some, including me, believe is planning a bid for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.

Fox News Digital posted claims from Massachusetts Republican gubernatorial hopeful Mike Kennealy that Healey ignored written and verbal warnings that the migrant shelter crisis was about to pop, before it did.

Fox also posted a piece about Healey's HomeBASE program and how she shifted illegal immigrants from shelters into apartments at taxpayers' expense. Many migrants have or are running out of taxpayer money to pay for their digs and may have to return to shelters or the streets.

A Breitbart headline screamed, "Democrat Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey Threatens Redistricting Despite No Republicans Representing Gerrymandered State."

Suffolk County Sheriff Arrest and Political Fallout

Associated Press was one of many national news outlets to report the arrest of Suffolk County Sheriff Steven Thompkins, with federal authorities charging him with "allegedly pressuring a Boston-based cannabis firm to sell him stock in the company."

Massachusetts as a Sanctuary State

CBS News was among the networks to report that Boston is on a list of 35 sanctuary jurisdictions being targeted by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Massachusetts State Auditor Pushing for Transparency

Meanwhile, Massachusetts State Auditor Diana DiZoglio has hired a private law firm to force Attorney General Andrea Campbell to enforce the law by making the legislative leadership open the books for an audit.

That hasn't caught the eye of the national media – yet.
