Massachusetts Press Needs to Give Healey the Trump Treatment
Polls conducted on behalf of Massachusetts news outlets continue to show Governor Maura Healey in cruise control heading into next year's re-election campaign. It doesn't hurt that the same news folks treat Healey with kid gloves, barely pressuring her to answer nagging questions about the goings-on during her time on Beacon Hill.
Why doesn't Healey get the same pressure from the media as President Donald Trump?
The Costly Immigration Crisis in Massachusetts
Healey's first term has been a disaster, highlighted by an illegal immigrant crisis of her making that has attracted Homeland Security and ICE, who've made thousands of arrests and deported violent, criminal illegal aliens welcomed here and cared for by Healey using your money.
The crisis has cost Massachusetts taxpayers an estimated $3 billion to date, and some believe it could reach $5 billion before all is said and done.
Energy Policies and Rising Costs
Soaring energy costs resulting from Healey's failed energy policies threaten to freeze out Massachusetts families. That is, if they are not taken out by falling windmill blades first. Remember, Healey stopped two gas pipelines from delivering low-cost fuel to Massachusetts residents.
Healey has had other missteps, including in transportation, housing, lack of transparency, spending, and tax proposals, to name a few.
The governor has failed to demand the implementation of a law that mandates an audit of the Massachusetts Legislature. The audit measure was supported by 72 percent of voters in a 2024 initiative petition.
Healey continues to duel with the Trump Administration, which has already cost the state many millions of dollars and has refused to cooperate with federal investigations of waste, fraud, and abuse in entitlement programs such as SNAP.

Unanswered Questions About LaMar Cook
Now, Healey refuses to say whether she was aware of a 2001 incident involving the former deputy director of Healey's Western Massachusetts office, LaMar Cook.
Cook was fired in October following his arrest on drug trafficking and weapons charges, but it wasn't Cook's first run-in with law enforcement.
State House News Service reported that Cook was "charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a handgun within 500 feet of a dwelling, and unlicensed possession of a firearm, according to a report dated April 23, 2001, that the Springfield Police Department shared with the News Service."
The Boston Globe reported that the outcome of the case is unknown as the record was sealed.
Did Healey know about the 2001 incident before she hired Cook? The governor faces little pressure from the media to answer the question. So far, she hasn't.
Why Isn't the Media Isn’t Pressing Harder?
The media is not holding Healey to the same standard as others, including President Donald Trump. Why is the Massachusetts press not applying the Trump standard to Healey instead of allowing her to slide by with few, if any, tough questions?
Inquiring minds want to know.
