Diana DiZoglio Hires Lawyers to Force Massachusetts Legislative Audit
Massachusetts State Auditor Diana DiZoglio is not backing down in her quest to audit the State Legislature. DiZoglio has lawyered up and is ready to go to court to force action on the voter-approved audit, despite the best efforts of some on Beacon Hill to keep it from happening.
The Boston Globe reported DiZoglio has hired "an outside law firm – funded by a GOP donor" – to bring the matter before a judge. The paper reported that Republican Michael Minoque, rumored to be considering a run for Massachusetts Governor in 2026, will cover the costs of the attorneys.
Resistance from Beacon Hill Leadership and Attorney General
More than 70 percent of Massachusetts voters supported a statewide ballot question last fall giving DiZoglio the authority to audit the legislature. House Speaker Ron Mariano and Senate President Karen Spilka have refused to cooperate, insisting the audit would be unconstitutional.
State Attorney General Andrea Campbell has thus far refused to attempt to enforce the law.

DiZoglio told Boston Public Radio station WGBH, "There is an authoritarian regime in the Legislature on Beacon Hill right now." She has hired the Boston-based law firm Donnelly, Conroy and Gelhaar to enforce the law in court.
"Massachusetts state law is clear that any lawful litigation brought by state officials or state entities must be authorized by the Attorney General's office," Campbell spokesperson Sydney Heiberger told WGBH.
"The number-one goal of everybody involved in this on Beacon Hill is to keep us out of the courtroom so that we can't get a decision so that this will linger on forever," DiZoglio told the station.
