Massachusetts Governor Healey Tangles With Trump Over Heat Assistance
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, who boasted about halting two natural gas pipelines from coming to Massachusetts, is at odds with the Trump Administration over delayed federal heating assistance.
Baby, it's cold outside and getting colder by the minute, and Healey, who now denies putting the kibosh on the pipelines, is yelling for Trump to "do his damn job," and immediately release Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) funding.
The Boston Herald's Tim Dunn reported the Trump Administration is "laying into" Healey over her remarks.
Dunn quoted a statement from the Health and Human Services Communications Director Andrew Nixon: "The Massachusetts Governor continues to blame the Trump Administration for the delay, rather than acknowledging responsibility with her own party, which held the government hostage during the longest shutdown in American history."
"Despite these setbacks, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is moving swiftly to distribute annual awards and restore essential services that were stalled when the Democrat-led shutdown obstructed the Department's ability to serve the nation's most vulnerable families," Nixon said.

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell blasted Trump in a recent press release, accusing Trump of playing "political games" with "low-income residents, including seniors and working parents."
Local Impact: PACE Applications Open
PACE (People Acting in Community Endeavors) is currently accepting applications in the New Bedford area from those in need of home heating assistance this winter. The application process and qualifications are outlined on the PACE website.
Scope of the LIEAP Program in Massachusetts
Healey's office stated the LIEAP program "typically helps more than 150,000 Massachusetts households, representing over 300,000 people," afford to heat their homes each winter.
