
Massachusetts Lovers Love This Valentine’s Candy Best
Mere weeks after resolving to begin the new year by hitting the gym, shaping up and refraining from consuming anything but leaves, air and water, Americans are about to gorge themselves on Valentine's Day candy and blow the whole deal.
Valentine's Day, a time for sweethearts, sweet nothings and sweet munchies. Ah, fudge!
CandyStore.com looks at some of the best-selling candy last Valentine's Day and what sweet treats were the preferred favorites in each of the 50 states based on 16 years' worth of data.

The site says, "People are going to be shelling out big bucks this Valentine's Day – the National Retail Federation's survey says we'll be spending a whopping $25.8 billion, slightly down from last year's $25.9 billion. But we'll be spending more on significant others than ever, a record $14.2 billion."
CandyStore.com says, "The number of people buying candy for Valentine's Day is expected to be at a new record high with 57% of consumers."
Americans are expected to buy an estimated 58 million pounds of chocolate during Valentine's week.
Celebrants in Massachusetts prefer to give their valentine conversation hearts candy followed by a heart-shaped box of chocolates and chocolate hearts.
Rhode Islanders do it in reverse, preferring to gift their love chocolate hearts, a heart-shaped box of chocolates and conversation hearts.
In Vermont, M&M's are the preferred Valentine's Day gift, followed by conversation hearts and candy necklaces.
CandyStore.com says M&M's are a national Valentine's Day favorite followed by Hershey Kisses.
Candy is most often gifted on Valentine's Day followed by greeting cards, flowers, an evening out and jewelry.
