
Gift Cards Massachusetts Residents Love Receiving the Most
'Tis the gift-giving season. Well, almost anyway. The time has come to start drafting a list of gifts to give to the folks on your holiday list, and for some, that can be stressful.
Why not give a gift card?
Springfield-based WWLP-TV Channel 22 cites a Giftwhale study that says Vanilla, Dunkin', VISA, Amazon and Roblox are the five most popular gift card brands in Massachusetts.
WWLP reported the top five gift cards nationally are Vanilla, Roblox, VISA, Amazon and Starbucks.

CivicsScience.com said new data "show that 55% of U.S. adults who celebrated the 2024 holidays received a gift card, with 25% receiving multiple gift cards and 30% receiving only one."
"Gen Z and Millennials led among card recipients, with these demographics more likely to have received gift cards in 2024 than in 2023," according to the site.
CivicsService says, "Fewer Gen X and Baby Boomers received a gift card during the recent (2024) holiday season compared to the previous year." The percentage of all age groups receiving multiple gift cards declined in 2024 compared to 2023.
Last year, USA Today proclaimed, "Gift cards are the hottest holiday presents, for people and retailers."
"Research shows people love receiving gift cards – even if some shoppers are hesitant to give them," wrote USA Today. "A recent survey from Bank of America found 96% of surveyed consumers were happier or equally satisfied with gift cards compared with physical gifts."
According to the National Retail Federation, gift cards were the most popular item on consumers' wish lists, with 53 percent of shoppers requesting them last year.
